The Chief Ombudsman works with his staff to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies. The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration. Mō tō mātou tira – About the team
The Project Management Office is focused on and responsible for delivering technology-enabled strategic projects using scalable project management practices. The team ensures any system change includes sound business analysis, testing, and change management to enable innovation and business continuity. The Project Management office also works closely with project governance boards to report on and manage project risks, issues and resources.

Mō te tūranga - About the role:
The Senior Procurement Advisor is responsible for ensuring procurement policies and processes are understood and adhered to across the Office, providing advice, guidance and support where required. They will also be required to run end-to-end procurement engagements from time-to-time and have oversight of Corporate's contract management process.
The Senior Procurement Advisor will also be responsible for the development and implementation of sourcing strategies that support organisational priorities and deliver sustainable value, ensuring the Office's office procedures, objectives, and standards are understood and followed. The Senior Procurement Advisor will also ensure procurement and contract management, processes and practices are regularly reviewed, identifying areas of thebusiness that require improvement or additional support, while actively raising opportunities to enhance the Office's procurement policies, processes, practices and governance.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Minimum 7+ years' experience as a Procurement Advisor, with at least 3 years in a Senior or Lead role.
- Strong experience providing Senior Leaders (desirable), Managers and projects with expert advice across the procurement life cycle, increasing the Office's value for money across both short and long-term contracts.
- Strong experience leading all aspects of procurement, including governance; planning; execution; stakeholder management; procurement documentation; supplier/vendor selection; reporting; organisation support; continuous improvement.
- A strong understanding of corporate and NZ Government and procurement rules, guidelines and channels, and a pragmatic approach to how these are tailored and applied across the Office.
- Experience mentoring team members and supporting organisations to embed and enhance fit-for-purpose procurement frameworks.
- Strong soft skills, with the ability to influence, guide, and support procurement activities, at all levels of the organisation.

Depending on skills and experience the salary is expected to be between $115,360 to $151,410 with 144,200 being the mid-point.
This role is based in Wellington. Please note we are unable to consider 100% remote working for this role.
